Our skin absorbs A LOT of what’s put on it, so if I’m going to slather 90% of my body with a body butter, I want to know I’m using a product with clean ingredients and no toxic nasties.
Since returning to the UK from Vietnam at the end of 2020, the central heating over the cold winter months has played havoc on my skin, so I really needed a moisturiser that could work wonders on my dry, dehydrated skin and I found just that with Ultra Hydrate Organic Body Butter from Herb Market Botanicals.

My Ultra Hydrate Organic Body Butter arrived in lovely packaging in a glass jar, nestled in a box filled with eco-friendly, crinkle-cut brown paper packing and my skin couldn’t wait to try it!
I also tried out the Dry Skin Brush, made from sustainable beech wood with a cotton handle and natural sisal bristles made from the leaves of the agave plant, which came in a reusable cotton pouch.
I wanted to give my skin the VIP treatment, so as part of my winter holistic skincare routine, I’m using dry brushing as an effective, natural way to remove dead skin, unclog pores, detoxify and stimulate both the circulatory and lymphatic systems, and I’ve heard that regular use can work to breakdown cellulite. Wow – a winner in my book and my skin felt so rejuvenated after this brushing down!
INGREDIENTS
Body butter is a body lotion’s richer, more luxurious cousin and Ultra Hydrate Organic Body Butter is no exception.
Formulated with raw shea butter which is rich in antioxidant vitamins A and E and contains a high amount of skin-softening fatty acids, whipped together with balancing, elasticity-boosting botanical oils, it had a thick, rich texture and glided onto my skin and immediately my skin felt smooth and silky.
The main ingredient in this body butter is organic shea butter, sourced from the Global Shea Alliance sustainability program, which ensures the protection of eco-systems, decent working conditions and wages.
The shea butter is completely raw, unrefined, and unprocessed, which helps retain its nutritive properties. The other main ingredient is Jojoba oil, a liquid plant wax closely resembling the sebum of our skin. This Clean Beauty brand ensures that all products are formulated without fillers, artificial fragrances, synthetics, or concerning chemicals and their ‘Ingredient Library’ provides a deeper dive into all of their ingredients, giving customers a better understanding of their purpose and benefits.
What I loved about this body butter is the lasting effects. Due to its thick, luxurious consistency I didn’t need to use too much as it spread easily over my skin to give great coverage. I have used Ultra Hydrate Organic Body Butter daily to nourish my body and the cuticles and skin on my feet and I found it deeply hydrating; it absorbed into my skin but it kept my skin feeling smooth and hydrated throughout the day and night.
I am also using it after my shower or bath, when my skin has been saturated with water and my pores are open, as the jojoba oil forms a thin, porous layer on the skin that provides exceptional moisturizing and softening properties which according to Herbal Market Botanicals, can penetrate deep into the skin glands to help clear blockages caused by bacterial growth.
The Ultra Hydrate Organic Body Butter is suitable for dry or sensitive skin and is fragrance-free although it had a slight scent to it from the unrefined shea butter and Jojoba oil, but there are no chemical fragrances in this body butter, so nothing I needed to worry about.
